Protecting Your Mind in Uncertain Times

March 17, 2026

Many of my client conversations so far this year have centered on recent headlines—how the war in the Middle East has rattled stock markets and the potential impact of further escalations. Although market reactions to global news are not new, the volume of headlines creating volatility has been particularly high in the past few months, and I understand that is concerning.

Concern, however, is not the same as worry. Worrying is a fruitless effort; it occupies your thoughts, dominates conversations, and entertains worst-case scenarios. Ruminating about what could happen next is not only unproductive—it’s also not how we’re called to respond to the world around us.

The Bible reminds us to take our thoughts captive and train them on the things of Christ. We should strive to be informed but discerning, concerned but not fearful, prayerful but not pessimistic, heartbroken for a fallen world but remaining firmly rooted in Hope. By no means should we ignore what’s happening around us, but it’s a worthwhile discipline to not allow circumstances that are outside of our control to consume our hearts and minds.

When it comes to your finances, financial plans are developed with long-term objectives and diversification in mind. While short-term market volatility is a normal part of investing and can affect portfolio values, it’s important to remain focused on your overall strategy. We continue to review information as appropriate and will reach out if changes are needed.

As you seek to stay informed, be mindful of the source, frequency, and purpose behind the bombardment of news headlines, and protect the battlefield of your mind while we await more peaceful days.
